Description

This is the original painting of the Shaman ritual of 'Cernunnos' {Keyr-noo-naas - Celtic} of my tribute to the Lord of the Wilds, the Dance and of the Hunt. He is the Celtic god of the forest and the shaman that connects the animals, the land and the nature spirits with the Underworld and the Middleworld. He has a bow of Truth, and his snake companion is with him with whispers of wisdom. His other form is the Wolf in which he transforms, although he can shapeshift into any animal. Cernunnos is one of the most ancient deities of Celtic times and has been found on rock carvings and other artifacts as early as 15,000 years ago or prior to fourth century BCE, but since he is a Celtic got his story and history were only passed down by the word of the tongue. He is an example of masculine Divine energy and is also known as the Great Stag many times dipicted with the horns of the buck. His linked with the great Oak tree of the Druids, with the cycle of life and he walks in harmony with nature as he brings both death and life as the seasons change with the wheel.

In this painting I used both metallic and pigment watercolor, ink, gel pen, moon charged salts, essential oils, yerba santa smoke, and intentional energy of connection to Cernunnos and the energy of his walk in nature. He helped guide me to what elements to add such as the drum of his dance, the bow and arrow, the birds that never fear him, the butterflies that rest upon his still antlers in meditation, the charms and leaves that hang from his Shaman adornments, the Wolf spirit and other details. The land that he helped heal, among other medicine men, spirit guides and animal allies; is featured in this video as well- I walk the redwoods and show you where it used to be dark...and then we did the four corners and added light and cleansing.

It is on 140lb archival 9x12" watercolor professional paper and is signed and sealed by the artist with a certificate of authenticity and will come protected with a plastic overlay.
